Start by filling out the consultation form on the Contact page — share your concept, size, placement, and a few reference images. Cesar reviews each request personally; you'll hear back within a few business days with a quote, a recommended sitting length, and consultation/booking options. A deposit secures your appointment and goes toward your final total. See the "Before Booking" page for the full step-by-step.
Every project starts with an online consultation. You can reach out via the contact form, Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct Message, or email. Please include as much detail about your idea as possible — desired placement, sizing, and visual examples. Photos (even rough ones pulled from Google) are the most effective way to explain a concept. If your idea isn't within Cesar's preferred style range, he'll discuss possible adjustments; if a mutual fit isn't there, he may refer you to another artist within the shop.
Cesar's wait times typically run three to ten months out. Because of the high demand, plan ahead — and if your piece needs multiple sessions, book them ALL at once on the same call so you don't end up with large gaps between appointments. Start the consultation here to kick off the process.
Yes. Once your design has been discussed and approved, Cesar will roughly estimate the number of sessions your project needs. A deposit is required for each booked session — Cesar's deposit is $300 (one full hour of his hourly rate). Each deposit counts toward the final price of that session, applied as the first hour paid at the end of the appointment. If multiple sessions are needed, deposits are placed on each one when you book the series. Start the booking process here.
Shortly after you book, you'll receive a confirmation email through Google Calendar listing the time, date, and location of your appointment. Attached are the PDF forms you'll need to read before you sit — the deposit agreement and shop consent form. Bring valid photo ID to your appointment; we're required by law to verify it. Questions on the paperwork? Reach out through the contact form.
High-quality reference photos are essential for portraits, memorials, and custom realism. Low-quality or low-contrast photographs are very difficult to tattoo and may be turned down. Send the highest resolution, sharpest, best-lit image you have via the contact form. If you're not sure your photo is good enough, send it anyway — Cesar will let you know during consultation.
Pricing depends on size, placement, detail, and total sitting time. Every piece is custom-designed for the client, so we quote during the consultation once we've nailed down the concept. A deposit is required to secure the appointment and is applied toward your final cost. Quality custom realism takes time — the price reflects the design hours, the materials, and the care put into a piece you'll wear for life.
Honestly? Yes, there's discomfort involved. But the vast majority of our clients say it was much more manageable than they expected. • The sensation — Most describe it as a persistent scratching or burning, similar to a cat scratch or sunburn being drawn on. • Pain is subjective — It depends on placement, your personal tolerance, and session length. • Endorphins kick in — Your body releases natural painkillers within the first 15–20 minutes, which dulls the sensation significantly. • It's temporary — The discomfort lasts hours. The artwork lasts a lifetime. We'll keep you comfortable throughout the process — breaks, conversation, and a relaxed environment all help.
Keep it clean, keep it dry. Wash gently 2–3 times a day with unscented anti-bacterial soap and pat dry with a clean paper towel — no rubbing, no soaking. For moisture, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor, Butter Luxe, cocoa butter, or another unscented healing ointment. Avoid scented soaps and body washes, hot tubs, swimming, sun exposure, and submerging the tattoo for the first 2–3 weeks. Cesar will walk you through the full plan in person before you leave the studio — follow it closely and call us if anything looks off.

Getting your first tattoo is exciting, nerve wracking, intense, and could be a great or horrible experience. You will remember getting your first tattoo for the rest of your life, and a little preparation goes a long way. Here's what we recommend to make sure your first tattoo experience is smooth from start to finish. • Research your artist — Browse our portfolio and find work that resonates with your style. We specialize in creating custom pieces tailored to each client, adapting reference, or tattooing flash designs specifically created to be tattooed. Have short conversations with your perspective tattooers to see if it's a good personality fit. • Choose your tattoo design thoughtfully — Sit with your idea for a while. An abstract tattoo that has no literal meaning is different than one that reflects your values, or favorite band, may change. Sometimes designs anchor positive ambitions spirits, others negativity. Artistically, be open to the direction of your tattoo artist as not every piece of art can be tattooed well. The skin is a unique medium and size and details are more important in a tattoo design than most people know. • Prepare your body — Stay hydrated, eat a full meal, get a good night's sleep, and avoid alcohol or blood thinners for 24 hours before your tattoo appointment. • Bring valid photo ID — You must be at least 18 years old, or if you're a minor, ages 16 -17, please see our requirements for minor tattooing. • Wear comfortable clothing — Choose something that gives easy access to the area being tattooed, and something that you won't mind getting ink on. We walk every first-timer through the process step by step, so don't hesitate to ask questions at any point.
Great tattoos come from many paths — a deeply personal custom piece you've been thinking about for years, a spontaneous flash design that just speaks to you, or anything in between. What they all have in common is that the person was honest about why they wanted it. In tattooing, mistakes are easy to make and hard to fix, so understanding your motivation is the best place to start. People get tattoos for many reasons — all of them valid: • To express who they are — Identity and individuality are the #1 reason people get tattooed. • Because they look good — Pure aesthetic appeal. Sometimes a design just belongs on your body. • To feel more confident — Many clients say tattoos help them feel more comfortable in their own skin. • To tell their story — Commemorating people, milestones, or life chapters as a personal "body diary." • To reclaim their body — Covering scars, processing trauma, or marking a turning point in life. • To belong — Matching tattoos with family, partners, friends, or to honor a shared experience. • For the love of art — Seeing the body as a canvas and celebrating creativity. • Simply because they want to — No deep reason needed. "I like it" is enough. The tattoos people regret share common traits: • Chosen impulsively to follow a trend rather than personal resonance • Too small or poorly placed for the design to age well • Done without trusting the artist's guidance on what works in skin Whether your piece is months in the making or picked off the wall five minutes ago, the key is working with an artist who understands how ink behaves in skin over time. During your consultation, we'll help you refine any concept — planned or spontaneous — into a tattoo that holds up for life. Browse our tattoo gallery for inspiration.
A little preparation makes a big difference in how your session goes and how your tattoo heals. Start a few days before your appointment. • Hydrate — Drink plenty of water in the days leading up. Hydrated skin accepts ink more smoothly. • Eat well — Have a full meal before arriving. Low blood sugar can cause dizziness. • Sleep — A full night's rest improves your pain tolerance and overall comfort. • Avoid alcohol — No drinking for at least 24 hours. Alcohol thins your blood and can increase bleeding. • Skip blood thinners — Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and similar medications. • Moisturize the area — In the days before (but not the day of) your appointment. • Arrive clean — Shower beforehand and skip lotions or sunscreen on the tattoo area. Show up rested, fed, and hydrated — and we'll handle the rest.
